Karl Conant

Karl Conant, 89, of New Milford passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron. Born July 21, 1923 in Rockford; the son of William and Anna (Emkow) Conant. He graduated from East High School, Class of 1942. Karl served as a Sergeant in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. After he came out of the service, Karl married Carol E. Mund in Rockford. He was a machinist at Mattison Machine Works and Industrial Form Grinding, where he worked for most of his life. Karl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. The Conant Family would like to extend a special thank you to the compassionate staff at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron for their wonderful care as well as Serenity Hospice in Oregon for easing his final days. Karl is lovingly survived by his wife, Carol, of 64 years; son, Charles (Kathy) Conant of Ashton; daughter, Christine (Russell) Mothkovich of Cherry Valley; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
