Karin E. Ditto

Karin E. Ditto, 73, a lifelong resident of Rockford, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. Born Feb. 11, 1943 the daughter of John and Helen (Baker) Last. Married her loving husband Forrest Ditto on Feb. 13, 1960 in Rockford and together they had 3 beautiful children. Karin was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. She was always cheering on her grandchildren at all of their sporting events and cherished her moments with her great granchildren. An avid reader belonging to the New Connections Book Club and enjoyed her slot machines and gambling trips. She was a funny, kind and compassionate woman who loved her family deeply, she will missed by all. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of her friends, neighbors and especially OSF Hospice Care.
Survivors include her husband, Forrest of Rockford; sons, Brian (Lynda) of Belvidere and Michael (Laurie) of Cherry Valley; daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Venable of Rockford; grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Peterson, Matthew Ditto, Elizabeth ( fiancé Garrett Conover) Venable; Carly Ditto, Courtney Ditto and Jacob Venable; great grandchildren, MJ “Mattie” Ditto; Jeslyn Peterson, Brock Ditto and Joleigh “Jo Jo” Peterson; siblings, Charles (Joanne) Last of Machesney Park, Mary Ann (James) Leonard of CA and Judy (John) Miller of Rockford; brother-in-law, Phillip (Sue) Ditto of Rockford; sisters-in-law, Mary (Ralph) Torgerson and Ruth (Ron) Potter both of Rockford and numerous nephews, nieces and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, great grandson, Brayden Ditto; brothers, John and Edward Last and brother-in-law, Farris (Dede) Ditto.
Funeral service Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. continuing Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to the American Cancer Society.
