Karen Marie Miner, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Rockford, Illinois. Born on August 25, 1936, to parents Gerald and Mabel (Christofferson) Peterson in Sterling, Illinois. She moved to the Rockford area and dedicated over 40 years to her career at Swedish American Hospital, starting out as a medical secretary at Canfield Clinic and working her way up to risk manager at Swedish American Hospital. She raised four children, Jeff, Joel, Jennifer, and Jamie. Family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Karen was often considered the ‘life of the party’, as she loved attending gatherings and socializing. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and even being part of the pit crew at races. Karen loved to travel, going up North to fish and spend vacation time with family, as well as cruising. She was also an active member of the Verdi and Lombardi clubs. She built many long-lasting connections throughout her years here and was known for living life to the fullest.

Karen is survived by her loving children; Jeff Miner, Joel (Anne) Miner, Jennifer (Shane) Hauser, Jamie (Suzanne) Miner; grandchildren, Nicole (Shawn) Correnti, Erin (John Ingram) Miner, Leah (Mike) Williams, Casey Miner, Cody Miner, Christian Miner, Shayne (Veronica) Miner, Taylor (Breanna) Miner, Christine Miner, Kristin (Gage) Showman, Tiffany (Jeffrey) Lucas; brothers, Douglas (Nancy) Peterson, Dennis (Sharon) Peterson; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers, G.R. Peterson, Harry Peterson, Jack Peterson; sisters, Janice Olmstead, Sandra Walrath, and infant son, Jay Miner.

A Celebration of Life will be at Timber Point Golf Club,  5750 Woodstock Rd, Poplar Grove, IL 61065, on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Karen’s memory to the Swedish American Health Foundation, 1415 E.
