Karen Marie Hollis, 48, of Rockford, Illinois, died suddenly on Monday, December 10, 2012, in a medical transport helicopter accident in Compton, Illinois. nbsp;Born November 21, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Nancy (Fuscone) Foley. nbsp;Married Scott Hollis on October 7, 1988. nbsp;Karen was a highly regarded member of the React Flight Team and employed by Rockford Health Systems for over 25 years. nbsp;She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, friends and her profession, her selfless acts of kindness, her ability to educate within the nursing field, and her extensive volunteer work, including her most recent position as President of the Board of Directors of Spectrum Progressive School. nbsp;Her hobbies included reading, skiing, attending her childrens swimming events, and traveling with her family.
Karen is lovingly survived by her husband, Scott; daughters Sydney Marie and Samantha Carol, her dog, Reggie; mother, Nancy Foley; sisters, Cathleen (Scott) Person, Linda (John) Timm, Nancy (Jim) Appell; brother, Tom (Carol) Foley, and John (Colette) Foley; and fatherinlaw Charles Ellis. Nieces and nephews include Ryan, Michael, Kelsey, Jennifer, Ethan, Shaun, Kevin, Brenden, Erin, Franchesca, Jack, Ariana, Joshua, and Annalisa. She is predeceased by her father, Thomas Foley, and her motherinlaw, Carol Ellis. nbsp;The family offers its most sincere love and gratitude to all those who shared in Karens life. nbsp;She will be deeply missed.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Saint Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, Illinois, 61111, with Father Burt Absalon and Father Paul Lipinski officiating. nbsp;Visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2012,nbsp; with an inner agency walk through at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory (Mulford Chapel), 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois, 61108. nbsp;Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 to 9:45 A.M. at Saint Bridget Catholic Church. nbsp;In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spectrum School for the Karen Hollis Memorial. nbsp;Funds will be allocated towards the building fund.nbsp;PLEASE NOTE!!!
