June M. Lewis

June M. Lewis, 74 of Rockford passed away Monday, October 5, 2020. She was born March 12, 1946 in Newton, IL the daughter to James “Frank” and Henrietta (Utley) Wilson. June grew up in Newton and later moved to Rockford. June married the love of her life, Green Lewis, Jr. on June 27, 1964. They were married for 56 amazing years. She worked at Skeets, Beaky’s, Atwood and Arachnid before starting her own daycare. Her daycare was her true calling. Beyond her own two children she was a mom to many. June enjoyed bowling and bingo. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. June was a beautiful woman inside and out and will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
Survived by her beloved husband, Green Lewis, Jr.; children, Mike (Martha) Lewis and Mickey (Ron) Hutting; grandchildren, Donald (Kerri) Lightfoot, Lee (LayCee) Lightfoot, Christy (Charlie) Petrie, Brad (Emily) Grunder, Brandi Grunder; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Larry (Myrt) Utley, Laura Orr, Diana Sikes, Billy (Pat) Wilson; in-laws, Curt (Diane) Lewis, Brenda Rapier, Daisy Reese, Terri Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Gary Wilson and Floyd Dean Wilson; brothers-in-law, JC Orr, Charles Sikes, Billy Rapier, Sam Reese, Harvey (Barb) Lewis and David Lewis. The family would like to thank the staff in ICU at Javon Bea Hospital especially, Cali.
Walk through Visitation will be held Monday, October 19, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Masks are required and please practice social distancing. Private service and burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a cause to be determined.
