June Jenkins

June Isabelle Jenkins, 92, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, September 22, 2013. She was born in Rockford on Flag Day, June 14, 1921; the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Vindhurst) Jackson. June was the oldest of 6 children and was always 'in charge' right up until her death. June attended Winnebago High School. She married Earl Jenkins in November of 1940. They were married for 42 years until Earl passed away in 1983. June worked at First State Bank for many years becoming an officer before retiring at 68. June's strong will and love for people kept her determined to remain active; she continued working as a cashier at Pinnon's Meats until 2 months ago. June loved her family and enjoyed spending time socializing and going for dinner. She was an avid reader, loved to dance and was full of life. She will be missed by all who loved her and those who knew her.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Dave (Lucille) Jenkins and Joellen (Jack) Ring; brothers, Jerry Jackson and Phil Jackson; sister, Florence Laurence; grandchildren, David (Julie) Jenkins II, Arik (Lynell) Jenkins, Amber (Nathan) Meigs, Shannon (Tony) Teunissen and Caitlin Ring (Kevin Allen); 3 great-grandchildren; 3 step- great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Chet Jenkins; sisters-in-law, Donna Jackson, Dorothy Jenkins and Val Jenkins; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Dale Jackson and Terry Jackson.
Memorial service at 11:00 am on Friday, September 27, 2013 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Visitation from 10:00am until the time of service.
