Julie A. Benson, 38, Joliet, died at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet. Born May 22, 1969 in Rockford, daughter of Gerald R. Benson and Jane L. Batty Benson Neff. Graduate of Jefferson High School. In the past 18 years she has been employed by Weyerhauser Corp.for a number of years, Chicago Corrigated and more recently was the Senior Account Manager for Fidelity Container. Survivors include her son, Andrew Benson and grandson, Logan Benson of Joliet; parents, Jane and LaVern Neff, Cherry Valley; brother, Jeff (Beth) Benson, Byron; step-brother, Blair (Kathy) Neff, Cherry Valley; maternal grandfather, Lowell Batty, Rockford; and uncle, Gary (Sylvia) Batty, of Texas. Also survived by her cousins, Greg Batty and Jeananne Brooks; nieces, Cara Benson and Jenna Neff; nephew, Matt Benson and special friends, Peggy and Ray Deblasio, Sherrylynn Piper and special pets, her dog Riggs and cats, Shadow and Missy. Predeceased by her father, Gerald Benson and her grandmothers, Lillian Batty and Joyce Myers. In her death, Julie gave the gift of life through the Gift of Hope Donor program. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral service at noon on Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Nancy Rethford, Cherry Valley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service.
