JULIA S. MELNIKOFF, 91, Rockford, died at 5 A.M., Saturday, February 24, 2007 in Bickford House.nbsp; Born January 23, 1916 in Chicago, daughter of Rudolph and Martha Berndt Stluka.nbsp; Married Arthur Melnikoff in Chicago on October 8, 1954.nbsp; She was employed many years as an Administrative Assistant for several different corporations.nbsp; She had nbsp;a very quick wit and was rather outspoken. Julia was an outstanding athlete, being passionate about many sports.nbsp; She excelled in softball, basketball, bowling and golf, having made a hole in one on two different occasions. She received a gold medal in the Senior Olympics for swimming and swam at the Dolphin Swim Club until she was 90 years old. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society. nbsp; Survivors include her niece, Gail (Ronald) Johnsen, Rockford; nephews, Paul (Donna) Cirricione, California and Todd Kucera, Albuquerque, NM; several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews; brothers- and -sisters in law and many special friends. Predeceased by her husband, Arthur, in 2000, parents, brother Theodore (Susan) Stluka and sisters, Pearl (Paul) Cirricione and Ruth (Hal) Kucera. nbsp; The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff atnbsp; Bickford House, Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center and Shirley G. nbsp; A funeral service will be held at 10A.M., Wednesday, February 28, 2007 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory with Chaplain Donna Rasumssen officiating.nbsp; Visitation from 4-8PM, Tuesday.nbsp; Memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, 4215 Newburg Rd.
