Julia Chapa Solis, 76, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, August, 10, 2008 at University of Chicago Hospital due to complications following heart surgery. Born October 26, 1931 in Rancho Las Garzas, Tamaulipas, Mexico; the daughter of Antonio and Julia (De La Garza) Chapa. Married Martin Solis on July 6, 1958. Julia taught grade school in Mexico for many years and also worked in the Rockford School District as a Teachers Aide for nearly 20 years. Julia loved to crochet, garden and spend time with her grandchildren. She had an insatiable thirst for learning. Survivors include her children, Juanita (Ernesto) Ornelas, Martin Solis III, Teresa (Carlos) Pedroza; grandchildren, Erica, Nikita and Veronica Solis, Juan and Claudia Ornelas, Danny and Gabriel Pedroza; Sisters, Teodora Chapa, Maria Lopez, Natalia Villareal, Flora Garcia and Graciela Ibarra, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Predeceased by her husband, Martin; infant daughter Paula; sisters, Ignacia and Gregoria; and brother, Antonio Funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at St. Patricks Catholic Church with Rev. Ricardo Hernandez officiating. Visitation from 4-8pm, with a rosary recited at 6:30pm on Wednesday, August 13 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N.
