Rockford

Judith Lynn Murphy, 81, passed away in her home in Rockford, Illinois on February 28, 2024. Judi was born in Rockford on January 4, 1943, daughter to Jack and Betty (Caldwell) Anderson. She went on to marry the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Murphy and they shared 53 years of memories before his passing on February 22, 2023. Those memories include many years of traveling up to their family cabin in Northern Wisconsin with their kids during the summer, being Youth Leaders at St. Mark Lutheran Church for 8 years, becoming snowbirds to the Florida Keys in the winter, while making friends all along the way. In her personal time, she enjoyed expressing her artistic flare, painting, and sketching pieces of artwork. Judi was an attentive, compassionate mother and grandmother and her mark was not only left on her family, but on her community as well. She enjoyed many years in the Rockford area as a realtor helping people find their perfect home. Her legacy of kindness and creativity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by those who loved her most, her children Dorsey (Bob) Reinke, Mimi Murphy (Nino) Orifici, Rebecca (Rick) Nelson, Susan (John) Fulling, Sara Murphy, and Bill Place; her grandchildren Beth Reinke, Theo (Jessica) Reinke, Kelly (Chris) Brown, Megan Orifici and Adam Orifici, Taylor Nelson and Tristan Nelson, Emily Fulling, Ali (Greg) Watson, and Abbey Place; great grandchildren Logan Brown and Noelle Brown; her brother Matt (Dee) Anderson, her sister Kathi (Joe) DeArmas, and several nieces and nephews. Judi is greeted in heaven by her husband, Ted; her parents and all the family dogs that have passed through the years.

Cremation Rites were accorded to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. A private celebration of Judi’s life will take place at the beloved family cabin.
