Judith M. Ibarra

Judith ""Judy"" (Swenson) Ibarra, 69 of Rockford, died peacefully from complications of pneumonia on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Eastbank Rehabilitation Center. Born in Rockford on September 23, 1938 the first child of Stanley and Esther (Bennett) Lucas. Married Norman (Mike) Swenson in March of 1957 and had 3 children. Graduate of Rock Valley College as a Respritory Therapist. She worked at Highland Hospital in Belvidere but worked the majority of her career at St. Anthony Medical Center. Judy enjoyed her work and her patients very much. In May of 1982 she married her husband of 26 years Hilario ""Larry"" Ibarra of Palatine. Judy enjoyed her houseplants, gardening, going to garage sales, looking for antiques and spending time with her family. Survivors include her loving husband, Larry; daughters, Carrie (Robert) Turnure of Rockford and Jody (John) Benton of Machesney Park; grandsons, Mallory Leathers, Nathan and Andrew Greer and Josh Benton; great grandchildren, Aidan, Brandon and Emma; brother, Robert (Marianne) Lucas of Leesburg, FL and sister, Mary Beth (Larry) Pond of Pinewood, MN. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Stanley Swenson. Funeral service Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Alpine Rd. at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Krause officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation on Saturday, May 17 from 2-4 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. and will continue on Sunday at 3:00 at church.
