Judith Farrell-Booth, 87, of Rockford, IL passed away in her home on Wednesday, December 9th after a long illness.
Born in Rockford to Francis and Grace (Ziener) Ford on August 7, 1933 and graduated from Muldoon HS of Rockford in 1951. Married Kenneth J. Farrell of Rockford on September 26, 1953. Her sense of humor, quick wit, sharp tongue and big heart will be dearly missed by those who loved her. “We are at once broken hearted and relieved for her.”
Judi was a wonderful pianist/organist, taking lessons as a child and later using her talents for private parties and in church, and she passed her love of music on to her children. Judi & Ken spent several of their early years involved with the Christian Family Movement through St. Patrick’s Church, participating in Christian Family Mission Vacations and hosting many events in their home. Judi was co-founder (with husband, Ken) of Process Graphics Corporation / PG Display of Rockford, IL, which employed all of their children as well as many close friends and dedicated employees over the years. Judi’s family was heavily involved with the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps and she served as volunteer in many capacities while four of the children were members. Judi enjoyed many artistic outlets, but especially working with fabrics as a quilter and member of Sinnissippi Quilters. After Ken’s death she met and married Andrew Booth of Scottsdale, AZ (originally of Carnoustie, Scotland) and together they enjoyed travel and their Scottish Terriers, Angus and Kylie. In her later years, Judi enjoyed visiting patients with her Scottie dogs as Therapy Dog Program Coordinator for VNA Hospice. She also helped to form a support group for people living with Essential Tremor through Rockford Health System.
Survivors include her children Gregory (Stephanie) Farrell, Timothy (Lisa) Farrell, Daniel (Robin) Farrell, Molly (Brian) Buhck, John Farrell, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her sister Patricia (Ford) Bateman and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by husband Ken, her second husband, Andy Booth, her mother and father, and infant sister, Theresa.
Special gratitude goes out to the team at Mercyhealth at Home Hospice, most notably Susan & Ronda for their loving care. The family would also like to extend special thanks to caregiver Josie Fox.
