Judith A. Dixon 75 of Rockford passed away Tuesday September 13, 2011 in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born November 22, 1935 in Rockford, the daughter of Robert and Mildred Bartholomew. She attended Rockford schools, graduating from East High School in 1953. Judith managed the Alpine Inn of Rockford for 18 years. Judy loved nature especially camping, hiking, and kayaking with her friends and family. One highlight was hiking on the Appalachian Trail. She was fascinated by the Whooping Crane Migration. She also wintered in Fort Myers, FL where she liked to hike the beach and nature trails. She was an avid reader and gardener. Judys other passion was sports. She enjoyed the Cubs, Bears and Nascar (Matt Kenseth 17). Judy loved to see her grandchildren and great niece play sports. Also, while in Florida, she became the Rockford College Girls Softball teams No.1 fan. Judith is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Ginn of Rockford, soninlaw, John Brien of Rockford and son, David (Cheryl) Dixon of Monroe Center; grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Brien of Rockford, Kaitlyn Brien of Rockford, Jacob Dixon of Phoenix, AZ, Bryce and Mark Dixon of Monroe Center; sister, Jeanne Lindgren of Rockford, nieces and nephews and many special friends. Predeceased by her daughter, Laura Brien in 2009, brother, James Bartholomew and brotherinlaw, Jack Lindgren. Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Burial in Arlington Cemetery at 11am on Thursday September 22.
