Joyce Alice Mary Sutherland-Forsythe

Joyce Alice Mary Sutherland-Forsythe, of Rockford & Mackinaw, IL, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Javon Bea Hospital, Rockford, Illinois.

 Joyce was born May 29, 1926, Norwich, Norfolk, England to Florence Mary Holder and John Arthur Sutherland. She married Gerald Franklin Forsythe, December 16, 1944, in Norwich-Norfolk, England. Surviving are; daughter, Jo Anne (Louis) Ferroli of Machesney Park, son, Stephen (Patricia) Forsythe of Rockford & Mackinaw, Illinois, Son in-law Richard Schulz of Lockport, Illinois, five grandchildren, John Schultz, Christine (Jim) Gawel, Patrick (Nicole) Forsythe, Leah (Grant) Ticknor, Jane Ferroli (Kevin) & her loving 17 great grandchildren.

Joyce is preceded in death by Loving Husband Jerry, Daughter Marlene Schulz, Parents Florence & John Sutherland, Brother Jack Sutherland, Granddaughter In-law Teri Schulz & two great grandchildren.

 Joyce lived in Mackinaw, Illinois for 30 years & February, 2020 moved to Rockford, Illinois. Joyce was a World War II war bride, a member of Mackinaw Christian Church, Mackinaw Young at Heart Club, & Mackinaw Red Hat Ladies! Joyce loved to travel, & spend her winter months in Florida. 

 A Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Grace United Methodist Church, Rockford, Illinois, officiating, Pastor Sejoon! 

A Family graveside burial will be at a later date in Mackinaw Township Cemetery. 

 The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made in memory of Joyce to St Jude’s or The Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) Foundation.  

 Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory LTD, Rockford is assisting the family with arrangements.
