Josephine T Saporito

Josephine T. Saporito, 92 a lifelong resident of Rockford, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at SwedishAmerican Hospital surrounded by her family and faith. Born Dec. 20, 1923 the daughter of Dominic and Adelina (Reali) Bocanelli and graduated from West High School. Married her beloved husband, Angelo S. “Babe” Saporito on April 13, 1947 in Rockford. Josephine has been a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church since Nov. 1, 1973 where she served on the Altar and Rosary Guilds and was a member of the 3rd Order of the Franciscans. She loved to go to Mass, pray for those in need and would be sure to tell you how things should be, but always in a kind and caring way. She loved to play cards and worked at Ebaloy during the war. Josephine was able to form a special and meaningful relationship and bond with each and every one of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her welcoming smile, warm heart and faith-abiding ways will be missed greatly by those who had the chance to know her. The family wishes to extent a heartfelt thank you to her parish family and to all of her very special friends that took the time to see her and wish her well.
Survivors include her children, Mary Lou Collura of TX., Fred (Carol Sisson) Saporito of OR., Joanne (Jerry) Woods of Roscoe, Luke (Holly) Saporito of OR and Mark (Martha) Saporito of TX; grandchildren, Terese (Derek) McSpadden, Jerome (Chris) Collura, Angelise Nelson, Matthew Saporito, Jeffrey Saporito, Elizabeth Saporito, Erica Saporito ; great grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher and Patrick McSpadden and Stella Nelson and Lunden Azuara ; sister, Emma LaSala and numerous very special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2010, grandson, Anthony Paul Woods; 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. Burial will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd., with a Rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at church from 10 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial to be made for Masses in her name or to the family for a fund to be established.
