Josephine T. Disch

Josephine T. Jo Disch, 101 of Rockford, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 in her home. Born Oct. 16, 1906 in Beloit, WI daughter of Phillip and Teresa (Grady) Finnegan. Graduated from Beloit High School in 1924 and Ward Business School. Married Casper H. Disch on Aug. 25, 1936 at St. Judes Church in Beloit, WI. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1994. Jo moved to Rockford in 1937. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Peter, St. Anne Society, Dominican Laity, Provena St. Anne Auxiliary, Cathedral Belles and the Town and Country Garden Club. Her strong faith, pride in her Irish heritage and devotion to her beloved family is what kept her going all these years. At age 92 she took a 10 day trip with her daughter to visit the west coast of Ireland and some of the towns and communities where her ancestors had lived. She was a truly remarkable little lady that will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to OSF Hospice. Survivors include her daughters, Teresa J. Disch, OP and Rita (Thomas) Chiodini; sons, Richard (Mary Ann) Disch and Robert (Connie) Disch; eight grandchildren, Ann (Mark) Novotny, Bradley (Betty) Disch, Jennifer (Kevin) OBrien, Paul, Mark and Kevin Chiodini, Michael (Diana) Disch and Laura (Michael) Hahn and 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Paul, Mark and Wayne Finnegan, nieces Sally and JoAnn Finnegan and nephew, Phillip Finnegan. Funeral Mass Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Cathedral of St. Peter with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
