Josephine Juliano, 99, of Rockford, died peacefully at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Born Feb. 18, 1911 in Aragona, Sicily, daughter of Michael and Antonina (Zammuto) Vaccarello. Married her loving husband the late John Juliano, who preceded her in 1984. Member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, St. Marys Good Time Club and the Sacred Heart Society. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans and baking breads and cookies. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and professional staff at St. Anthony Medical Center and to Heritage Woods and Rosewood Nursing Centers. Survivors include her devoted children, Joan (Sam) Maurici, Nina (Sam) Mandala, Lee (Arleta) Juliano and Mike (Ann Marie) Juliano; loving grandchildren, Tony (Josephine) Maurici, Marilyn (Bob) Mandala, Jo Marie Maurici, Johnna (Greg) Hultgren, Vito (Nanci) Mandala, John (Lorri) Mandala, Jacob (Christine) Mandala, Tracie (John) Watson, Jaime Juliano, Paul (Jenny) Juliano, John Juliano and Jacki (Matt) Davenport; 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vincenza Giuliano and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, John; grandson, Joseph Mandala; brothers, Peter, Thomas, Sam and Paul Vaccarello and sister, Angelina Sacco. Funeral Mass, Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Monday, in church, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel assisted the family.
