Josephine Mary Agostini

Josephine Mary Agostini, 96, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. She was born in Rockford, IL on November 1, 1927, the daughter of Desire and Mary (VanDen Driessche) DeBaere. Josephine married Mario Agostini on November 6, 1954, in Rockford, IL. She was a loving wife and mother of four children, spending most of her early family years as a dedicated wife and home-maker where she was the rock of stability as the family relocated from Illinois, to Colorado, to Nebraska, and back to Illinois. Josephine held a number of jobs later on, retiring from the Quaker Oats Company in 1990 after nearly 20 years of service. She was a longtime member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church and attended St. Bridget Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, planting and maintaining many beautiful flower gardens in the large yard of the family home. It became the go to location for large family gatherings. She cherished this most of all, spending time with family, friends and loved ones. She will be dearly missed.

Josephine is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Mario (Oct 29, 2023). She is survived by her children, Mark (Ann) Agostini, Michael (Tracey) Agostini, Mary (Jamie Wietecki) Agostini, Mathew (Chris) Agostini; grand-children Donald Junior Maple (deceased), Gina (Erika) Agostini-Walesch, Anthony (Hang) Agostini, Sarah Hamblin, Rebecca (Shams) Afzal, Daniel (Randi) Plath, Rich Bialy, Chris (Brittany) Wietecki, Heather Wietecki and Dominic Agostini; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Julian Debaere, Jeanette Osborne, Jerry DeBaere, Jack Debaere, Janice Thornton, James DeBaere, John DeBaere and Jeffery Debaere. A special thank you to Carol and Lonny Davis for their love, support, and care for Josephine over the last years.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with a Procession and Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rockford / Winnebago IL.
