Joseph W. Licari passed away surrounded by his family on November 14, 2022 after a short illness. Joseph was born May 6, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois and was the son of Frank and Frances (Furino) Licari. Joseph was a World War II veteran and a founding partner of Jay-Tronics, an electronics distributorship that spanned over 60 years. He will be remembered as a loving, sincere, loyal and hardworking man. He instilled a strong work ethic in his family along with compassion and love to those less fortunate.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Joan (nee Biavati), to whom he was married for 65 years, and his children, Mary Licari, Dr. Frank Licari, George (Ann) Licari and Cathy (Rodney) Laisure, and much-loved grandchildren, Michael (Andrea) Licari , Mary Licari, Joey Licari, Drew Licari and Joseph Laisure. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Rosemary Nicolosi, Carmella Zammuto and Therese Ingrassia; brother and sister-in-law, George and Virginia Biavati and much-loved nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law, Philip Nicolosi, Peter Zammuto and nephew, Deacon Frank Zammuto.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's memory can be made to Boylan Catholic High School Educational Foundation, 4000 St. Francis Drive, Rockford, IL 61103
Visitation will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church 2400 Bell Ave. Rockford, IL 61103 where family and friends will gather on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 9 AM - 11 AM. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 AM. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
