Joseph W. "Joe" Logli

April 9, 1946 — June 16, 2018

Joseph W. Logli, 72, of Rockford, died on June 16, 2018 peacefully in his sleep at his home in Green Lake Wisconsin. Born April 9, 1946 in Rockford, the son of John and Phyllis Logli. Graduated from St. Peter’s school, Boylan High School, and Northern Illinois University. After college, he taught at St. Bernadette’s school for two years before working with his father and brother at Logli Supermarkets until 1998. During that time, Joe grew the family business from a mid-sized local grocery to the largest supermarket in Illinois. Joe was passionate about innovation and providing the best full-service experience to customers – whether building a state of the art produce warehouse and driving to Chicago three days a week to ensure the freshest produce, to being the first supermarket in the area to rent videos, or incorporating a restaurant, pharmacy, dry cleaners and bank all under one roof. He retired to Green Lake, Wisconsin in 1998 where he spent his time fishing, cooking, visiting with friends, and walking 10 miles a day – a habit that earned him the nickname “the walker” among everyone in the neighborhood. Besides spending time with family and friends in Wisconsin and Florida, Joe’s passion was to travel to Mexico where he could use his Spanish language skills as he traveled across the county by car, visiting lesser-known cities rich in culture and history. He made at least one trip a year for the past 20 years and brought many friends on the “Joe Logli Tour of Mexico” during that time. Joe is survived by his wife Antoinette “Toni” Logli, children Joe (Kat) Logli, and Maria (James) Allison; grandchildren Abby Logli and Margot Allison; brother John (Elsyne); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 22 at the Cathedral of St. Peter, followed by a private family burial.
