Joseph V. Trapani, 73 Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Nanu and Grandpa Joe Joseph V. Trapani, 73, lifelong Rockford resident, died peacefully at home at 6:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009. Born July 10, 1935, son of Vincent and Concetta Bruscato Trapani. Graduated from West High School in 1953 and attended Northern Illinois University. Married Mary C. Sacco at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on November 28, 1959. Veteran of U.S. Army where he served in the Military Police at Fort Carson, CO. He was involved in the family business, Home Oil Co., for many years and was employed in sales by Lakeshore Liquor. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and lector when his health allowed. Joe was a humble man whose pride and joy were his wife and children. He always had a positive outlook on life and the smile on his face showed his genuine love for his family and his country. Joe was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. His children will always remember his musical creativity, storytelling and playfulness. Survivors include his wife, Mary; sister, Joanne Gennaro, Milwaukee; children, Dr. Connie (Jim) Haag, Milton, WI, Angela (Billy) Pappas, Rockford, Vincent Trapani, Rockford, Mary Jo Trapani, Verona, WI. and Joseph C. Trapani (Julie Pastore), Rockford; grandchildren, Nick (Klare) Pappas, Melissa Pappas, Jenny (Keith) Wright, Dan and Jenna Haag and Peter and Katie Trapani and 6 great-grandchildren. Also survived by several special nieces, nephews and cousins and sister-in-law, Nina (John) Fulling and brother-in-law, Paul (Chris) Sacco. Predeceased by his parents. The family would like to thank Dr. Prasad Kilaru, the staff of Northern Illinois Hospice amp; Grief Center and the many family members and friends for the high quality of care given to Joe during his illness. Mass of Christain Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009 in St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation also from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church or Northern Illinois Hospice amp; Grief Center.
