Joseph F. Liskey, 84, passed away suddenly on January 15, 2009. Born January 10, 1925 inCleveland, Ohio. Married Ruth Groening on February 4, 1950. Employed byRockford Coatings as Product Manager from 1962 until he retired in 1988. Served in the Navy in WWII as a Gunners Mate in the Armed Guard during the Normandy Invasion, Russian Murmansk in 1943, invasion of Southern France and served in the South Pacific, Far East, Iran, Australia, New Guinea and many islands. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Attended Western Reserve University and was employed by PPG until 1962. Active member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as head usher for 5 years and usher for 25 years. He served in Ministry for the home bound for 11 years and was an active member and president of the Second Rounders Golf Group for 20 years.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth, loving father of Barbara (Roger) Viel, Milwaukee, WI, Margaret (John) Rich, Bettendorf, IA. and David (Joann) Liskey,Rockford; proud grandfather of Erin (Lewis) Orchard, Diana Rich and Ryan, Jenna and Kevin Liskey. Also survived by his brother, Bernie Liskey, Arlington Heights, IL and sister, Lenny Cruse,Sunnyvale, CA. Predeceased by his parents John and Susan Liskey and sister, Wilma Liskey.
Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2008 in Holy Family Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas E. Bales officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery . Visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:30 p.m. Visitation also from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Monday in the church.
