John Walter Burton

John Walter Burton, 93, of Rockford passed away Friday June 25, 2010 in his home surrounded by his family.nbsp; John was born May 1, 1917 in Beloit Wisconsin.nbsp; The son of Ralph and Renevega Burton.nbsp; He married Margaret Ellen (Rita) McDermott in Placid, IA on April 16, 1941.nbsp; Rita predeceased him in 1995.nbsp; John owned and operated John Burton Window Cleaning for many years, retiring at the young age of 80.nbsp; During WWII John stayed in the States to build planes.nbsp; He was one of the few people who could engineer them.nbsp; Member of St Patricks Church and the Moose Club. He would always welcome his childrens friends into his home and never knew how many would be there when he woke.
Survivors include his children;nbsp; Jack (Elizabeth Hielkema) Burton of Rockford, Betty Giglio of Rockford, Mary Burton of Rockford, Kathy (Steve) Koteski of Roscoe and Cindy (Gary Cellitti) Burton of Rockford; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Joe McDermott of Indianapolis and sister-in-law Delores McDermott of Anthon, IA.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents; wife, Rita;nbsp;sons, Jim and Joseph;nbsp;brothers, Paul and Ralph andnbsp;sisters, Louise and Emily.
Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be at 10am Wednesday June 30, 2010 in St Patrick Church.nbsp; Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
