John T. Hill

John T. Hill, Jr, 49, Rockford, died at 10:27 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Born November 2, 1959 in Rockford, son of John T. ""Jack"" and Angie Sciortino Hill. Graduated from Jefferson High School in 1977. Employed by Rockford Park District for close to 30 years. Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. John loved his job and appreciated being able to work outdoors. He was always willing to help others, loved his pets and kindly cared for all animals. Survivors include his brother, Jerry (Carol) Hill; sisters, Mary Jo Hill, Cindy (Ken) Anderson and Angie (Ken) Howe; nieces and nephews, Jason, Sarah and Kayla Hill, Nikki Shadden and Daniel Hill, Matt and Mike Anderson and Rebecca, James, Ryan and Taylor Howe; great-niece, Kelsey Shadden; special aunt, Josie Stelma, numerous cousins and lifelong partner and friend, Brian Finn. Also survived by Brians family, his parents, Jim and Karen Finn; siblings, John Finn, Jeff (Michelle) Finn and Michelle Finn, his nieces and nephew, Xandi, Trista, Meghan and Paige Finn and Kyle Jones. Predeceased by his parents, uncle, Roger Stelma and aunt, Susie Erickson. The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs on the oncology unit at Rockford Memorial Hospital, VNA Hospice and his cousins Suzanne and Peggy. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
