John Joseph Skura, Jr., 66, of Rockford died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at UW of Madison after a brief illness. Born September 6, 1946, in Kingston, PA, nbsp;the son of John J. and Louise A. ( Rychlewski) Skura Sr. Jack worked for 25 years for National Life and American General Insurance Companies and 12 years for Monumental Life Insurance as a district manager. Originally from Pennsylvania, Jack lived in California for many years until he moved to Rockford in 2001. nbsp;He found St. Rita Catholic Church and was instantly accepted and loved.nbsp; Jack was a 3 rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470, and a 4 th degree member of the General Assembly 190. nbsp;Other memberships include Diocesan Mens Bible Fellowship and National Association of Life Underwriters. nbsp;He was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed all sports especially baseball and football, golfing with family and friends, and never missed the Kenucky Derby. nbsp;He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend nbsp;who will be missed dearly by all. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parishioners and staff at St. Rita Catholic Church for welcoming him and enriching his life.

Survivors include his children, Louise M. Oliver of San Juan Capistrano, CA, John M. Skura of Las Vegas, NV and Marci M. Boyd of Pearland, TX; grandchildren, John, Laurie, Joshua, Lana, Harper, Tyler and Brody. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Mass Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr. at 11 a.m. Visitation Tuesday, January 22 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860nbsp; S. Mulford Rd. from 5 7 p.m.nbsp; with a rosary service at 7p.m. Visitation continues at church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held Saturday, January 26 in Dallas, PA.
