John Roberts

John JR Roberts, 78 of Rockford, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness, surrounded by his family, on July 9, 2012 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.

nbsp;Born September 22, 1933 in Jacksonville, IL.nbsp;nbsp; Son of John Roberts, Sr.nbsp; and Della May (Cawthorn) Roberts, Proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged from service

He worked for ABF Trucking Company retiring after 30 years of service.nbsp; JR was a member of the Teamsters Local 325, the SM and SF Club, Belvidere American Legion Post 77 and the Belvidere VFW Post 1461. He was a wonderful man who loved his family and his friends.nbsp;

Survivors include his children, Rickie Roberts, Donald (Christine) Roberts , Tina (Tadd) Johnson, Tracy (Kathy) Roberts nbsp;and Randy (Liz) Roberts; grandchildren, Zane Roberts, Tanner and Bailey Johnson and his special friend and companion, Barb Dwyer and her daughter Hailie Dwyer.nbsp; Preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Vickie Lynn Roberts and his loving wife, Barbara (Goodall)nbsp;Roberts.nbsp;

Funeral service Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials to: The Family of John Roberts. <
