John R. Davis

John R. Davis, 67, Rockford, died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Kindred Hospital, Sycamore. Born August 26, 1943 in Mt. Carroll, son of Eugene Davis and Pearl Bade. Rockford resident since 1967. Married Delores Book in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon on November 19, 1966. Employed by Quaker Oats for over 17 years. Member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1972. He enjoyed camping and was a Chicago Bears fan. John loved the Lord, his family and his wonderful grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Delores; son, Aaron, and friend Tanya; grandchildren, Syrina, Aaric, Kallie and Tyler; sisters, Loretta, Debbie, Connie, Cindy, Christy, Donna and Joyce; brothers, Ronald and Donald and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Eric in 1996; brother, Raymond and his parents. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Whitaker officiating. Burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and from 10 am until time of the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
