John Peter Tassoni

John Peter Tassoni, 93, of Rockford and formerly of Arkansas, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born May 31, 1916 in Rockford, son of Angelo and Beatrice (Lavato) Tassoni. Attended Rockford Central High School. Worked for Greenlee Brothers for 19 years and went on to own Tassoni Landscaping with his son Jerry. John is a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Survivors include his children John "Terry", Patrick "Pat", Jody (Steven) Miller and Richard "Rich" all of Rockford; grandchildren, Gregory, David (Tammy) Johnny (Liz), Joey, Robert, Patrick, Michael, Sarah Tassoni and Kara (Brian) Bond; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Merry) Tassoni of Rockford; sister, Beatrice (Dale) Iwig of CA and daughter-in-laws, Angela Tassoni and Shirley Tassoni. Preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy, second wife, Letha, son, Gerald, grandson, Steven; sisters, Augie Alis, Mary Miller and Annie Coniglio.A private family scattering service to be held on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Riverside Community Church, Machesney Park with Pastor Bobby Sheets officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials to: G-PAC Senior Center Dining Site, Lifescape Community Service 705 Kilburn Ave Rockford, IL 61101. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family.
