John Michael DeRocher, 72, passed away on October 8, 2022 in his home town of Rockford, Illinois. He was born on April 16, 1950 son to Firmin “Sam” and Dorothy (Christian) DeRocher. John graduated from Boylan Catholic High School in 1968 and attended Rock Valley College. He worked for Ingersoll for 45 years before retiring in 2015. Until the passing of his mom John diligently came home to care for her every day after work when his father died. On weekends, he would spend them up at the cabin in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin with his very special friends, Bob and Ronnie Olson. In his free time John was a league bowler, fisherman, and loved to snowmobile.
John is survived by his brother, Don; his nieces and nephew Danielle (Ryan) Aseltine, Sean DeRocher and Kelly (Toby) Rudsinski; great nieces and nephews Lauryn, Jacob, Ashlyn, Luke Aseltine and Preston Cash; numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Georgia DeRocher and numerous aunts and uncles.
A visitation will take place on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 10:30 a.m. at Cathedral of Saint Peter, 1243 N Church Street, Rockford, Illinois 61103. Burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
