John M. Keenan

John Michael Keenan, 64 of Rockford, died December 28, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family. Born November 3, 1948 in Rockford the son of Leo and A. Joyce Keenan. Graduated from East High School in 1966. Served as a policeman for the Rockford Police Department, retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service. John enjoyed spending time with family and loved to play video poker. Survivors include his wife, P. Dian Keenan; sons, Brad (Jen) Keenan of Chaska, MN and Dave (Tammy) Keenan of Moorhead, MN; five grandchildren; mother, Joyce Keenan; brothers, Steve (Mary) Keenan, William (Deb) Keenan all of Rockford and several nieces and nephews. John also leaves behind several lifelong friends, including, Joe Battaglia, Larry Gus Gustafson, Pete Vitale and Steve Shooter Johnson whom he met with weekly. The family would like to thank Dr. Sharon Shipp, M.D. and staff from SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center and Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center for the outstanding care and comfort provided.
