Rockford, John M. Charnesky died 6:25 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center . Born March 20, 1928 inMilwaukee, WI, the son of John amp; Adele (Naus) Charnesky. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Married Geneva Adams inIndianapolis, on August 8, 1953. He was a member of First Evangelical Free Church,Rockford, IL, where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class, an usher and a member of the Mens Bible Study. During Johns life he worked for Milwaukee County for 6 years; Illinois Hospital School for 5 years; Tinley Park Mental Health Center for 24 years as the Business Administrator; and the Rockford Park District for 14 years. John was a Green Bay Packer fan, an avid golfer, starting at the age of sixteen; he also enjoyed fishing and most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include wifeGeneva, six daughters Jill Charnesky, Lori Charnesky, Linda (Jim) Iaun, Nancy (Danny) McHugh, Kathryn Charnesky, and Karen (Joe) Platzbecker. 8 grandchildren Aaron and Andrew Iaun, Rachel and Emily McHugh, Kyle, Hope and Emma Platzbecker, and Ben Charnesky. Predeceased by parents and sister Eleanor Tamer.

Services will be 11:00 am Friday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. 1860 S. Mulford Rd. , Rockford, IL 61108 with the Rev. Charles Rife officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory 1860 S. Mulford Road and from 10-11 am prior to service time on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W State St
