John Robert Lofton

John Robert Murphy, known to most as Bob, was born on March 2nd, 1932 to John and Elsie Murphy. As a toddler, Bob’s dad passed away and Elsie remarried Joe Lofton who adopted Bob. Bob, also known as Bockey to his loving family, passed away on September 2nd, 2024 in the beautiful home he designed and built for his wife Joan and their four daughters. 

Bob was a dreamer who delivered on his dreams. He became a highly successful architect in Rockford. He was also an artist painting many beautiful landscapes. He could design and build just about anything. A true artist and what talent. He built a snow village he named Bockeyville complete with electric trains that covered the entire dining room table at Christmas. 

Bob also loved to travel and take his family on many wonderful vacations around the country and into Canada. Bockey was the best husband, dad, father in law, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed by all who know him. We love you Bob, dad and Bockey.
