John "Jack" Masterson

John “Jack” Masterson, 78, of Rockford, passed away surrounded by his loving family and closest friends on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. He was born on September 30, 1938 in Dublin, Ireland, the son of Thomas and Kathleen (Curran)Masterson. He married the love of his life, Jennie Connolly, on June 12, 1965. They relocated to Rockford, IL to raise their family in 1967. Jack was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a devoted volunteer for many years. He served on the Electrical Commission for the City of Rockford and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 364 and the Knights of Columbus. Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed his outings with his golf buddies. He could fix anything and was often called upon by friends and family for help. Jack had a quick wit, an optimistic outlook, and a terrific sense of humor that remained until his passing. Jack’s family, especially his grandchildren, brought him the most joy. His big heart and smile will be deeply missed by all.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Masterson and Tricia (Mike) Rotolo; grandchildren, Jacob, Erin, Ally, Peyton, and Amber; numerous family members overseas and many wonderful friends, who supported Jack until the end. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Jennie, parents and several siblings.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel. Burial Sunset Memorial Gardens.
