John "Jack" F. King 75, of Rockford, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Wednesday September 4, 2013 at Rockford Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. Jack was born October 5, 1937 in Rockford the son of John and Elizabeth King. Graduate of St. Thomas class of '55. He attended the University of Illinois and Rockford College. He married his sweetheart, JoAnn Dietrich on November 30, 1957. Jack worked for Atwood Mobile Products for over 43 years, where he was a friend and advisor to all 2400 employees. He retired from Atwood as Vice President of Manufacturing. Throughout his career he worked in Michigan, California, and traveled to Europe, Asia and South Africa. He was Winnebago County Housing Authority Director for 10 years, a Winnebago County Republican Precinct Committeeman and an Election Judge. Member of St Bridget Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, National Rifle Association and the Venetian Club. He loved fishing and hunting and spending time at his cabin in Montello, WI. He coached baseball at Rockford area Boys Club and was a huge Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 55 years, JoAnn. Ten Children: Theresa King, Debra (John) Hribal, John (Debby) King, Jeffrey (Karen) King, Kathleen (Ronald) Wilson, Kimberly (Rob) Trimble, Kelly (Greg) La Fontaine, Kerry King, Shannon King and Michelle (Abe) Epperhart. 20 grandchildren: Heather, Kevin, Mike, Chris, Marc, Megan, Jacob, Nichole, Danielle, Hollie, Ryan, Kailey, Sydney, Jack, Jordan , Sarah, Logan, Rick, Austin and Presley. Four great grandchildren, Ashton, Landen, Isabelle and Colton . Three sisters: Monica (Cliff) Rivers, Colette Axelson and Betty (Carl) Try. Predeceased by parents and brother, Jim.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11am Wednesday September 11, 2013 at St. Bridget Church, Loves Park. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 4pm until 8pm Tuesday, September 10 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rosary at 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
