John “Jack” Duwane Lolling, 93, formerly of Rockford, IL, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Morris, IL, his home for the last 3 years. He was born on November 15, 1928, in Rockford, IL, the son of Harold and Ella (McDonald) Lolling.
Jack was the youngest of eight children and a 1946 graduate of Leaf River High School where he excelled in Basketball and set records in Track. He married his high school sweetheart, Darlene “Dar“ Mae Schelling on May 1, 1948. He dairy farmed in the Leaf River, Lena, and Pecatonica area before moving the family to Rockford. Jack was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Church of Pecatonica and the Stephenson County Farm Bureau during his farming years. He was a loving and supportive grandfather, showing up in their lives. He enjoyed country drives, farm talk, and trains. Through his giving heart and warm smile, he touched many peoples lives and was a friend to all.
Jack is survived by his children, Diane (Virgil) Davit, Monty (Sandy) Lolling, Mark Lolling and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Lolling; special companion of 18 years, Della Guffey; grandchildren, Kathy (Steve) Beabout, Jesse Davit, Marisa (Curtis) Kloster, Corbin (Rachael) Lolling, Cara (Dan) Hodgdon, Casey Lolling, Brenda Lolling, Stacy (Dan) Lamoreux and Erica (Matt) Anklam; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Dar, in 2002; son, Gary in 2021 and his seven older siblings.

A Memorial Mass officiated by Rev. Dennis M. Morrissy will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 10:30 am, at St Mary’s Church of Pecatonica, 126 W 5th St, Pecatonica, IL 61063. Visitation will take place at church prior to the Mass starting at 9:00 am. Inurnment to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jack’s name to St. Mary’s Church of Pecatonica, Pinecrest Manor or donor’s choice. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family.
