John Butch Musgrave

September 27, 1961 — February 16, 2010

John Musgrave, 48 of Seward, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 in his home surrounded by his family. Born Sept. 27, 1961 in Rockford, son of John and Wilma (Talley) Musgrave. Attended Auburn High School and served in the United States Army.  Married his loving wife Nanci Hathon on May 5, 2000. Worked for several years for Rock River Disposal until his illness forced him to retire in June 2009. John was an active member of AA with 15 years of sobriety. He loved fishing, working on cars, messing around in the yard and was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and New Orleans Saints fan. He and Nanci are true Harley enthusiasts, taking many trips on his Superglide. Motorcycles and family were his life. He was a great man with a kind heart and will be missed greatly. He leaves behind a plethora of friends in the Motorcycle community and AA.  Survivors include his wife Nanci of Seward; brothers, Vic (Dawn) and Gary Sr., all of New Orleans; twin sister, Johnna Howe of Loves Park; sons, Jim (Ashley) of Rochelle, Nick (Toni) of Loves Park and Mike (Sara) of Lisle; numerous grandchildren (special angel Lili; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for all of their wonderful care and support during this very difficult time and to Rock River Disposal for a wonderful benefit in Johns honor.  A celebration of Johns life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation from 3-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
