John A. Vaiarella, 94 of Loves Park passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born November 26, 1914 in Rockford, the son of Anthony and Isabella (Pace) Vaiarella. John married Virginia Saladino on July 10, 1937. She predeceased him on June 10, 1985. He later went on to marry Louise Contarino. John was very active in his community and Chamber of Commerce, founding John"s Shoe repair and Founder"s Day. He was also a master gardener. He worked together with members of the community gardening in Sinnissippi Park, showcasing many styles of gardening including Raised Bed. John loved reading and learned many of his trades from going to the library throughout his life. Survivors include his wife Louise, daughter Isabel (Richard) Dempsey, son John Vaiarella, granddaughter April Vaiarella, grandson Anthony Vaiarella, special cousin Josephine Gregg, step-daughter Janet (James) Pruitt, step-grandchildren Dr. Jon (Danyel) Baker, Michael (Tina) Baker Scott (Cynthia) Baker, Dawn (Tim) Wolfe and 14 step-great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-great grandsons and step nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bridget Catholic Church with the Rev. Brian A. Olsen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass in the church. Interment to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
