JOELLA CRENSHAW, 72 ROCKFORD - Joella Crenshaw, 72, went to be with Jesus on Friday, December 26, 2014. Born April 24, 1942, in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Orval and Alma (Thomas) Snook. Graduated West High School, Class of 1961. During her life, Joella worked at University of Illinois College of Medicine for sixteen years; Sears Roebuck for thirty years; Rockford Mercantile for five years. Serving on the Board of Directors with Circle of Learning Day Care Center for thirty years. In addition, she volunteered and was active with Big Sisters, Family Advocate, Fairhaven Retirement Center, and a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Joella was a member of Forest Hills Evangelical Free Church for many years. She sang and played "Bells" in the choir at Fairhaven Retirement Center. She loved to write poems and tributes for others. Survivors include daughter, Shelly Crenshaw; grandchildren, Jacob and Brandon Crenshaw; great-grandson, Aiden Crenshaw; sister, Linda Johnson; nieces, Kellee (Chad) Rosenberg and Stacee (Chad) Read; great- nieces and nephews, Hannah, Benjamin and Noah Rosenberg; Anden and Avree Read; special friends, Robert and Ron Langley, Donna and Terry Barnes, and Kathy Cummings. Predeceased by parents. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Fairhaven for all their care and support. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center Chapel. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial at Scandinavian Cemetery.
