Joel Devin Corpus, 34, of Rockford, died Friday, August 29, 2008, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a two year battle with leukemia. Born July 19, 1974, in Princeton, Illinois, the son of Richard R. and Connie J. (Murphy) Corpus. Joel married Melissa Raders in Rockford on September 4, 1999. He was a teacher at Winnebago High School for 5 years. Survivors include his parents, Richard and Connie; his wife, Melissa; son, Payton Corpus; brother, Jason (Heather) Corpus; sister, Alissa Corpus. Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, in St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr., with Msgr. Gerald P. Kobbeman officiating. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., with the rosary to be recited. Interment will be private.
