Joayne J. Conroy

Joayne J. Conroy, 90, of Rockford, IL, died Saturday, May 29, 2021. She was born on July 1, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA to James Richard and Bertha (Parisek) Conroy.

Joayne earned a Bachelor of Science at UCLA, and began a career as a School Teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District for nearly 40 years where she held a California Life Credential. She served as a Docent at the Los Angeles Zoo. Joayne relocated to Rockford in 2004. She served as a volunteer at Rockford Memorial Hospital for 10 years. Joayne was a very active and competitive person by nature. She enjoyed board games and playing cards, loved all sports, and played soft ball and ping pong. She traveled the world with her family and friends, and especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great
grandchildren.

Joayne is survived by her son, Roger (Adrienne) Huxman; grandchildren, Gregory (Arantxa) Huxman and Christine (Chad) Oates; great-grandchildren, Callie and Camden Oates; nephews, Bert and Bart Conroy; cousin, Angela Horine, and best friends, Pat Moran, Sal Flanagan and Pat Arnold. Predeceased by her parents; son, Andrew Huxman and brother James Conroy.
