Joanne Delores Janczak, 78, Rockford, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 15, 1935, in Rockford, the daughter of Joseph and Anastasia "Nancy" Pallai. Joanne married Eugene R. Janczak in Rockford on October 1, 1960. He passed away in Rockford on January 29, 2003. Joanne worked as a lunch server in various Rockford area schools. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Joanne enjoyed traveling, gambling at the casinos, and having lunch with her friends, but most of all, Joanne loved spending time with her family. Special thanks to Drs. Mueller and Korkmaz and the staff at OSF Center for Cancer Care, the Oncology dept, OSF Hospice, and her care giver, Marcia Ashley for their kind and compassionate care.
Survived by her sons, Daniel (Kathleen) Janczak and Patrick (Margaret) Janczak, both of Rockford; her daughter, Juliann (Dennis) Palmer of Roscoe; her grandchildren, Brooke, Brandon, Samuel, and Lucas; her brother, Ted (Jo) Pallai of Lakewood, CO; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Gene; her son, Thomas, her sister, Loretta Hawley, and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr. Rockford, 61109. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Rita Love Fund.
