Joanne C. Kelly

Joanne Cardon Kelly, 91, of Rockford, IL passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021.
She was born November 3, 1929 in Dormont, PA, daughter of James Louis and Ethel (Shade) Cardon. Joanne graduated from St. Francis High School in Clearfield, Pennsylvania in 1948 and with honors from Villa Maria College in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1952. During her internship at Hines VA Hospital in Hines, IL she met Daniel Kelly. They married on May 1, 1954 in Clearfield, PA and together they raised nine children all of whom revere their parents. Joanne was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Daniel Kelly; children; Daniel (Sandi), Mary Ann, Joseph (Diane), Michael (Susan), James (fiancé Corina), John, Eileen (Alan) and Vince (Robin); grandchildren, Rueben, Kimberly, Scott, Alisha, Olivia, Madeline, Charlie, Margaret, Erin, Meghan, Michael Jr., Kaitlin, Sarah, Jack, Lindsay, Ryan, Breahna, Dominga, Mariah, Vincent Jr., Lauren and Timothy; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Monica) Cardon of Rochester, New York, and Mark (Ruth Ann) Cardon of Sarasota, Florida and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Jane, brother, Jim Cardon and her dear son Timothy John.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103. A private Funeral Mass will be St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Social distancing and masks are required for any event. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne’s memory to Poor Clare Colettine Nuns Corpus Christi Monastery, 2111 South Main Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102.
