Joann "Jo" Louise Johnson

JOANN “JO” LOUISE JOHNSON - Joann “Jo” Louise Johnson, 81, of Rockford passed on Thursday, June 15, 2017 with her sons Glen and Gust at her side. Jo was born July 28, 1935, in Commonwealth, WI to Alvin and Blanche (Thomas) Johnson. She married Gust A. Johnson on February 13, 1954 and shortly following marriage they moved to Rockford to start their family. Gust passed away in Rockford on October 25, 2012. Jo’s life was devoted to her husband, her children, and her parents. She worked 30 years at Eagle Foods, the majority of which as Executive Secretary to the Midwest District Managers. Jo was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, and a dedicated volunteer who was tirelessly of service to her community. She took much joy in her garden and her faithful dog, Abbe.
Survived by her children, Glen Johnson (Prem Pahwa) of Chicago, Sheri (Steve) Jefferies of Cherry Valley, and Gust L. Johnson of Rockford; her granddaughter, Crystal (Jeff) Venable of Rockford; her great-grandson August Venable; her sister, Kathy (Pete) Witynski of Freeport; her brother, Roy (the late, Marilyn) Johnson, of Mt. Pleasant, WA; and her sister-in-law, Lois (the late, Wallace) Swanson of Iron Mountain, MI; as well as Brenda (Kevin) Stauffer; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Gust; her daughter, Kim Elizabeth; grandson, Nick Jeffries; brother, Wallace (Hazel) Johnson and brothers-in-law, Bruce (Faye), James Johnson.
Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the Memorial Service starts at 11:00 A.M., immediately followed by a luncheon, Tuesday June 20, 2017, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, with Reverend Mark Hagen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
