JoAnn E. Smith JoAnn E. Smith, 77, of Rockford, Formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2009 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, surrounded by her family. JoAnn was born November 25, 1931 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Carl B. and Lydia Mae (Havens) Haught. JoAnn married Doyle A. Smith on June 20, 1950 in Dubuque , Iowa. JoAnn was a pianist and violinist. She attended the University of Dubuque for one year, taught the freshman piano class at the University of Dubuque for three years, performed with the Dubuque Symphony and the Platteville Symphony and taught many young pianists until retiring in 1989. JoAnn was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dubuque. Her true joys in her life were her love of music and her love of her family. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Doyle A. Smith; her children, Wendy (Mickey) Lessley and Wade (Lori) Smith; her grandchildren, Joshua (Heather), Jeremy (Stephanie), Sarah, and Ryan Smith and Zachary (Heidi) Lessley; her great-grandchildren, Joey, Sabrina and Chyna Smith; and her brother Robert (Sue) Haught. Funeral services for JoAnn will be private. Funeral arrangements were handled by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel.
