Joann Bertolino

Joann Bertolino, 75, of Rockford, passed away May 10, 2019 in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 6, 1944 in Marsala, Sicily, the daughter Vito & Maria (Mannira) Angileri. Married her childhood friend Carl Bertolino, in Rockford, on October 20, 1962 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. With this union of marriage, they were blessed with four children one Predeceased son, Carl Jr. While raising her children she helped Carl with his business, City Auto Glass and worked for Nelson Knitting, making sock monkeys.
Member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and the Elks Club. She enjoyed cooking, ballroom dancing, gardening, spending time with family at the lake and being in Florida in the winter months.
Those who knew Joann would say she was very positive, loveable, loved people, had a gentle soul, and a good sense of humor. She never took life for granted.
Survivors include husband Carl, sons, Nicky and Vito Bertolino; daughter, Tina Marie (Joseph) Leombruni; grandchildren, Antonio, Joseph, Jakob, Luke, and Nico; siblings Joseph Angileri, Josephine Rosolia and Tony Angileri. Predeceased by parents.

Mass will be 11a.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson St, Rockford, IL 61102. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16th at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, and from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at Friday at church.
