Joan M. Maurici

Joan M. Maurici, 85, of Rockford, passed away with her loving family by her side Sunday, September 2, 2018. She was born September 1, 1933, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of John and Josephine (Vaccarello) Juliano. Joan married the love of her life, Samuel Maurici on September 3, 1951. She loved working as a waitress at Dom’s Pizzeria and North Towne Manor. Joan was an elegant but simple woman who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking and providing for her family. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Joan will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Survived by her children, Anthony (Josephine) Maurici, Marilyn (Robert) Mandala, Jo Marie Maurici and Johnna (Gregory) Hultgren; grandchildren, Dominic (Cassie) Mandala, Sam (Marla) Maurici, Andrea (Nick) Cook, Sara (Jeff) Maurici and Emilio Borgetti; great grandchildren, Avery, Alaina and Anthony Maurici, Oliver Mandala; sister, Nina Mandala; brothers, Lee (Arleta) Juliano and Mike (Ann Marie) Juliano; sister-in-law, Catherine (Gerald) Rudolph; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Lucille Giovingo. The family would like to thank Teresa Field and Nilie Wild for their care and compassion. Predeceased by her parents, John and Josephine Juliano; husband, Sam Maurici; father and mother-in-law, Anthony and Mary Maurici, brother-in-law, Alex (Mary) Maurici, George Maurici, Paul (Virginia) Maurici and Sam Mandala and nephew Joey Mandala.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL 61107. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a cause to be determined at a later date.
