Joan L. Heller

Joan L. Heller, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 in her home. Born September 12, 1927 in London England; daughter of Albert and Lillian Marshall. Joan was one of the many "war brides" that arrived in this country following WWII. Married Cecil Heller in Galena, IL on January 28, 1950. Survivors include her children, Gean Moore (Kathy) of Clinton, IA, Richard Heller of Rockford, Laura Heller of Rockford and Gail Heller of Clarksville, IN; grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Dana and Nathan; numerous great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Cecil in 1986, daughter, Carol Ann in 1951 and sister, Gwendoline Stephenson in 2005. Joan was an avid bingo player, loved spending a weekend at "the boat", enjoyed knitting and being with her family and friends.The family would like to express special thanks to Ray Covert, OSF Hospice, Lifescape Services and Visiting Nurses Association.Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103 with Pastor Doug Bowden officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 and continues from 10-11am Saturday both at the funeral home.
