Jo Ann M. Brophy

Jo Ann Brophy, 85, of Rockford, passed away in her home surrounded by family on Monday, October 28, 2013. She was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on August 23, 1928; the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Schicker) Weeks. Jo Ann graduated from West High School in 1946. She married Gerald Brophy in 1956. They were married for 38 years until Gerald preceded her in death in 1994. She worked in photo processing at Qualex Inc for several years. Jo Ann was a devout Roman Catholic and was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and was passionate about word searches. She was a very independent woman and remained that way until 2 weeks prior to her death.
She is survived by her son, Nick and brother, John 'Jack' Weeks; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Karly Brophy. Predeceased by her parents; sister Jane and sister Joyce, whom she shared a lifetime friendship.
