Jingqun Zhen

JingQun Zhen, 70 years old, passed away peacefully at home in Rockford IL on September 18, 2016, due to lung cancer. JingQun was born on December 4, 1945 in China mainland, and raised in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province. He graduated from High School in 1963 and then worked as an elementary school teacher. During the ten-year catastrophe, JingQun was forced to be a farmer for many years in a village. After that, he went back to the city and found a job as a woodworker. Later he worked in a hotel for more than 20 years until he retired in 2006.


JingQun had 7 brothers and sisters, and was the second child and the oldest son. Since he was very young, he had always cared about his brothers and sisters. Within his own family, he was the beloved husband of Huizhen Luo for over 30 years, a great father of Luzhi, his only daughter, and a respectable father in-law of Wenjun Kou, his son in-law. He had also loved and been loved by many friends in his life. JingQun is kind, humble, generous, and caring. He experienced a lot of hardship in his life, but he still kept up his great personality and tried to give his best to the family and friends. He did not keep record of wrongs of others.

On September 1, 2016, JingQun and his wife accepted Jesus as their Lord and were baptized in the Northwestern memorial hospital. He is now joyfully with the Lord forever in the heaven, and always remembered by his family, relatives and friends on the earth.

In celebration of his life, a private family member visitation will be held on Friday, September 23rd at Fitzgerald Funeral Home. A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 2 PM and will be preceded by a visitation from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. The funeral memorial service will be held at the First Free Rockford (chapel), 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61107

The family suggests memorial donation in lieu of flowers. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.
