Jimmie Howard Lowe, 77, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born on June 6, 1944 in Sikeston, MO, the son of Frank Sollie and Mary Elizabeth (Burns) Lowe.
Jimmie worked on the family farm as a young man. He worked many years in the carpet and tile field, both as an installer and as a salesperson. Always a handyman with the ability to fix anything, Jimmie also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and loved feeding all the furry and feathered guests that enjoyed his yard. He liked watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears with his family and he especially loved listening to news talk radio and WGN. Jimmies most cherished time was that with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Jimmie is survived by his long-time companion of 30 years, Alice DeLap; children, Jimmy Lowe, Melissa Ann (Tony) Terronez, Machelle Sue Lowe, Nicole (Michael) Willson, Matthew Travis (Dr. Kelly Holmes) Lowe, Holly Merson; grandchildren, Megan J. (Tatenda) Goodrich Chibanga, Joshua Dalton (Mackenzie) Goodrich, Kimberly Jo Goodrich, Shelby (Brett) Breberg, Colton (Sierra) Woodall, Spencer (Taylor) Oetken, Everett Willson, Kaylyn Willson, Kendra Seibert, Elizabeth Seibert, Kady Seibert, Macieann Merson, Travis Michael Lowe ; great-grandchildren, Tariro Annabelle, Tafadzwa Casper, Tapiwa Eleanor, Tasimba Louis, Savannah Jae, Bridger, Sophia, and Mia Elizabeth Benoit; brothers, Robert (Linda) Lowe and Jerry Lowe; sisters, Jean (Gary) Freeman and Mary Ann (Max) Londrie; sister-in-law, Diana Lowe and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents; sister Opal Lowe; brother, Ray Lowe; sister and brother-in-law, Patsy (George Louis) Newbanks IV; brother and sister-in-law, Sam (Nina) Lowe and sister-in-law, Marilea Lowe.
Jimmie’s family would like to thank the ICU and ICU Step Down Team at Javon Bea Hospital for their care and compassion.
An obituary reading and eulogy will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108, followed by a visitation until 7:00 p.m. Those in attendance will be required to wear masks. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jimmie’s name may made to The American Diabetes Association. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family.
